The Beekman of Annie Hall [1977]

The Beekman Theatre on 66th & 2nd had wonderful design features, mixing Jazz-Age Art-Deco with Corbusian International-Style. Sadly demolished in 2005, here it is in the beginning of Annie Hall in 1977
And at it's last performance,  2005....

Great Movies of Summer: The Talented Mr. Ripley [1999]

Italy in the summer:  The light and shadows of the warmer months bring out the colors & forms of her buildings & landscapes in heightened ways, explaining all the tourism. And what better way to tour than looking like Jude Law & Gwyneth Paltrow dressed in period fashions from the 1950s?

The fictional town of "Mongibello" in The Talented Mr. Ripley is actual a composite of two town south of Naples near Ischia Ponte - Bagno Antonio & on the neighboring tiny island of Procida, in the beautiful fishing village of Corricella, The movie (with its side-trips to Rome & San Remo), its wonderful clothes & details) continues on into the winter months, but summer is when we'd want our trip to begin.
